Dodgy Electrics

MessageAuthor

Hi All, I know this has been discussed elsewhere on this forum, but I can't find it at the moment, but I am experiencing the "unable to open passenger doors with remote" problem and loosing all electrics in both passenger doors. I have read elsewhere that this is due to a dodgy connector somewhere. I have discovered that I can open the door from the inside manually and that a quick jiggle of the connector that connects the car body and door seems to solve the problem for a while. Is this a coincidence or is the problem somewhere else. I am wondering if anyone knows exactly where the cause of this problem is. Thanks.

sounds like the problem that I had..... four visits to the dealership and only replacing the wiring loom in the driver's door fixed it. The previous three visits were to re-grease and re-make connectors, but only lasted 24 hours each time. Thank God for warranties !

You think it would be quicker and cheaper for the dealer to solder the rlevant wires - the connectors are only there to enable door motors to be clipped in quickly when on the car.

So where are the connectors? Are they actually in the door? and accesible.

So the question is, where are these connectors? I'd like to do a bit of preventativestuff and waterproof them before water actually gets in. Can anyone help?

hello I dont have the bulletin to hand but there is one for water ingress into the the connectors for the door locks solenoids etc. I believe they are in the door. Due to NDA bulletins cant be given to customers - they are dealer only currently.

RE: Dodgy Electrics

After last weeks downpours in the North of England, the passenger doors locked shut again. I booked it into my local dealer who say they have rectified the problem. I suspect that they just covered it in grease. Time will tell. As an aside, they also removed a stone from my brake guard that was causing a rubbing noise when I did any right turns. I think that has been pointed out as an issue in other threads on this site. But it's one to remember for the future. (maybe I shouldn't go driving through great big puddles !!)
